In this video I show just how easy it is to create believable and fairly realistic weathering effects for frieght cars. Using a simple method and budget supplies we take a basic budget box car and turn it into a presentable looking piece.

Do you wash the car body to remove casting and finger grease residue prior to the weathering?

Not for this I didn't. The black wash being solvent based takes car of it especially with all the brushing and swirling around. I would if I were using a water base wash though.
 
Thanks, your right there is no right or wrong, it just takes some experimentation. i like your way and certainly will try it on my next weathering job!
