Larry's Model RR Empire

Larry

Long Winded Old Fart
Starting a whole new thread of my Railroad Empire. very little words & a lot of pictures. have been working almost non-stop on the layout since the 1st week in Nov. Thought Larry Gilbert was going to be here in Jan., but that has been moved to Nov. of 2011 as of last week. have made a bunch of changes, added some more rolling stock & added some more engines. Now, up to 71 engines. 69 diesels & 2 steam.
Last weekend went to a train show & bought 12 Athearn Coal cars w/kadee's for $10.00 & the flats I showed in "Let's Get Loaded". I have been adding a lot of landscaping & tree's, adding some more scratchbuilt structures in the next cpl. of weeks. Also, have started adding a lot of lighting to buildings & outside of structures.
Here's a few pics of my newest additions in freight. :D One set of 5 GM&O w/diff. numbers, 1 set of 5 C&O w/diff. numbers, 1 set of 2 Clinchfield w/diff. numbers & the CSX I got for a buck.

Oh well, day late and a dollar short again LOL

Model Power, High Speed and Herpa all made these and can be found online for about $6-8.

Larry- Really like that shot of the spine cars in the siding! Also the one with the SDs, i can picture a railfan being upset because he just missed the leader of that consist, or happy because he caught a Warbonnet!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years Larry and everyone else. Here's hoping you all get some good time to run your trains over the Holidays and more modeling time in the New Year!

Larry, I know it gets hot in South Florida, but I'm sure there's got to be more to it than that with all those vertical fans.

BTW, how did you make out when Charlie went through there 5 or so years back?

Impressive, you definately got a lot going on there Larry, some club's aren't even that big. Like they say, "your never done". Keep up the good work, I wish I had more time.

Cool idea Larry!
Reminds me of when I worked in a container yard and we used stacks of old containers for the stacker garages.

Very nice......

I'm slowing building my coal train as well. I'm only up to 20 cars.
I wish I could find some train shows down here in Houston TX and find some deals.
I'm only aware of one and it's a big show, but it's not until fall.

Thanks for the info......

I just hit one of the few hobby shops in town earlier, bought some stuff, and grabbed a flyer for a train show/swap meet at the end of April. I hadn't been in a train hobby store in over 15 years.

The words "swap meet" sounds like there might be some deals possible.
