WoooHoo! I got a couple of E-6 Units from Big B and had three or four Athearn and Bachmann F units laying around. I decided to make a couple of Christmas presents for two of my buddies who are "train runners" and not modelers. I had them stripped and then I primed them yesterday. Worked a day or two on a custom mix on the L&N Diesel Blue. (its WAYYY different than what comes on the passenger cars!) Settled on a mix of Floquil 6 parts dark blue, 2 parts engine black, and 1 and a half parts caboose red. It looks good and warm without the "too purple hue".
I took pictures but I have never been able to post on this forum....can someone help?

You better have them to show me when I visit Monday! Think you may need some more decals?

I'll teach you how to load photos while I'm there.

Oh, They are here, all right! I'm going to have one demon in every model I do....this one is decals! They won't lay down like I think they ought to. I have a huge wrinkle up and down just ahead of the class lights on the E. I'm having a similar issue on the F's around the number boards. I shaved the small style boards off and will add the large boards after the decals on the E's. The F's are those klunky cast-on items used by Athearn and Bachmann. So klunky I trimmed out the area on the decal because I knew it was going to be a problem. They look too good to scrap now...I got the paint just right....It looks black untill its in bright light!
I'm considering masking off and painting the creme stripes. I'll wait till you get here before I do something that drastic.
I've got dry powder, battered-up shot and Agnes is dying to spit fire!
See you tomorrow!
