I want to convert my DC layout to DCC. The layout has two double slips and two reversing that are DC isolated. Is the Kato track going to be a problem?
I apologize if this has already been addressed in another post. I am very green to DCC and would love to convert my layout. I have already purchased a few years back a new NCE system but never got around to (trying) to install it. That and I am not really comfortable doing it intelligently.
In fact I have not even wired the reversing loops DC so they are dead right now.
I just want to do it correctly and understand it(DCC) the wiring part as I go.
The other issue is that I am not comfortable with getting my Nscale locos all decoder ready at all. I don't even know if they can all be done. I have every factory made Great Northern loco steam and diesel made by Atlas/Kato/ Concor/ Spectrum/ Intermountain/ Life Like/ ETC...
I only have two that are DCC that I purchased out of about 40 of them.
Any help with suggestions on this project is appreciated... Or if you live near Salem Oregon and want to participate.....:D

Reverse loops are one of the easiest to wire. Just put insulated rail joiners on both ends of the loop where it comes back and meets the switch. The reverse loop is powered with the autoreverser. Just be sure to use some type of breaker, lightbulbs would be the cheapest way to go.

I have no idea about the kato track, some track is listed as being dcc friendly, but im sure someone here will know the answer to that.

Just remember with dcc, all power districts can be turned on at the same time, assuming you dont have any wiring issue that would cause a short.
