Thanks for the help answering questions as I jump back into the hobby. My son in law wanted a layout using his old Tyco and AHM trains from the late 1970s to build a layout with his 8yo and I have been supervising and offering advice along with repairs to the old brittle plastic equipment. One challenge is finding my tools that were packed away two moves ago. Anyway here are some photos of what has been accomplished so far, please excuse the messy garage. The newer Athearn equipment I talked into purchasing.

A boy paradise...my brother used to have a train and on the last wagon he would put cat food and the cat would follow the train around and around and stand by the little tunnel to grab food,my niece was actually to young to play but would chortle at the cats antics, totally love it....
I have a dinosaur or two visit my own layour]t on the odd occasion so totally get it :D

Christian,
That is a big door, you left wide open for someone to walk through. 😁 Glenn
My Grandmother was 104 years old when she died. She smoked a packet of Marlboro every day up to and including the day she died. She died of pneumonia in a hospital.

I'll tell you now, without any fear of contradiction, that if she were alive today and 104 or even 103, she'd kick anyone's butt from here to hell and back before breakfast - ask me how I know that :) ;)

I am the eternal optimist Glenn - perhaps you are right, I hope not though.

To be honest though, I'm not sure I want to live that long the way this world is going .......... that being said, if I do - perhaps I will see the eradication of politicians, self serving political systems and the institution of logic, common sense and a one planet, one people mentality. Where greed, violence and corruption are things that school kids read about in history books and do not have endure from day to day.

Maybe if I do live that long - I may see and experience John Lennon's ultimate dream ........................

Tony,
I hope your desires do come true. However, there's the next great thing, "ChatGPT." The idiots foisting this upon us don't care what it does as long as they make money. Once ChatGPT fills the internet with "misinformation", how do we know what is real and how do you stop it? Good luck to us all. Glenn

Thanks but I think "Luck" is about all we have to rely upon ......

Boatwrench - sorry for side tracking/hijacking your thread mate, sometimes things show up that can't be ignored.

That's cool, where did you find pet dinosaurs? I thought those things were extinct😉

I have never seen a dinosaur themed layout before! This is absolutely fantastic! Gotta love that old Tyco equipment, as toyish as it is. It really is the essence of model railroading, and you've nailed it on the theming!
In India they apparently used elephants to pull rail cars sometimes...but here in the US one dinosaur was used exclusively for switching on Gorre and Daphetid😃

Gotta love a dinosaur, still themed with kids in mind is just brilliant, I would likely faint if a kid got loose in mine,
