Very nice indeed. One observation on the BN covered hopper. Heavy rust up top and down the side. Wouldn't some of that run down onto the lower sill area?

I have actually seen a car or two weathered like that. Rare though. I was told that it happened when fertilizer spilled over the top of the entire car and just oxidized the upper half before the rainwater diluted it enough to negate the effect. I got my information from a BNSF engineer acquaintance who said that his info came from a veteran carman.

I got my source from a photograph, and also from someone who works closely with the BNSF too. It is indeed fertiliser that does it.
