I just purchased 2 CSX ES44DC's (Non-Sound) and I'm hearing that these units take a lot of power from the throttle before they begin to move and are somewhat uncompatable with Atlas And Athearn Genesis in a consist. i guess it's because the Boards in the Locomotives are both DC & DCC. If so, is there a bypass harness that can be installed to run only in DC. What happened to the NMRA DC DCC standard boards.

The ES44's have boards that allow them to MU with sound equipped ES44's that have sound. Many people were getting one sound equipped and one non-sound equipped engine, and trying to run them together on straight DC. The non-sound units took off and left the sound equipped ones sitting, so this was the solution.

I have 2. You can remove the motor wires from the board and wire them direct to the track/truck pick-up's. This helps the speed, but them the lights won't come on until you are already moving at a good clip. For the lights you would also have to move them off the board with new resistors at a lower value.
