Intercity 125 instrument

Probably one for the UK lot.. but i was watching a documentary about the Intercity 125 and they said something about a radioactive instrument, but then my GF started nattering on and i missed it. I could not find the video again after..
It was regarding this thing (see picture) and something about it opens up or something?
At the national train museum they have a radiation warning label on it (as visible in the curator tour of the 125) but the curator does not mention it.
Just really curious about what it was for, and cannot seem to find any info about it at all :/

Ahhhhha! Thanks :)
Must be Tritium or Radium used to make it "glow" then i guess. I sort of new about AWS only that it is to do with those pads you see here and there and has something to do with the signals, but not how it worked or what it looks like in cab.

I looked it up now I know what it is called (ill add link for anyone else interested):
