Improving Our Steam Engines Performance

While I work on the driveline fix(s), i decided to go forward with a preliminary test of the concept.

HALLELUJAH !!
While I have yet to get those new drive shafts made up in order to run a pulling test on my new pusher/helper, I was able to make a substitution to verify I'm on the right track.

I found another of those short NW2 Kato chassis in my inventory that was equipped good traction tires. It was hiding under a fully equipped switcher shell with couplers and all . Why not add some weight to it, and put that behind a couple of my streamers pulling that same consist of 24 cars I still had sitting on the tracks. I've been wanting to verify my choice of the power chassis, and I wanted to see if I needed to modify the traction tire arrangement to prevent any derailing tendencies that have been hinted at.

So first behind the Bachmann mountain,..

Ran great, ...just needs a motor decoder that can be tuned up compatible with the stock sound decoder in the Bachmann steamer.

Lets see, will that power chassis pull that train by itself,....YES

Lets see, will it work with my favorite Allegheny steamer,...

Ran like a champ !!
Finally I'm going to get my articulates pulling like they look .

I'm happy with my effort to find some good pusher/helpers !

PS: BTW, there is no decoder in that Allegheny at this time. I was running both it and that pusher on just DC, and things ran really GOOD.

I epoxied those 2 brass strips onto the 3 chassis segments,..now have to let it cure overnight.

Obviously I need two longer drive shafts . They should be the same length due to manner I cut the portions.

Anyone with suggestions on getting those 2 longer shafts??
Wouldn't be better to drill, tap the holes and screw everything together?

I was originally going to screw those strips onto the existing frame portions, then the epoxy just jumped out at me .....and since i saw no need to ever remove them, I just decided to glue them.

I'd still either screw or rivet them as well
