"CLIP"

The vents are covered too much, they need to be softened and then the soot bled out a little - just my opinion

SO to make it softy,I should hit the soot with some light green but not so much that it covers it ?? and thank you for your input !

The guy was hear last nite and he likes them !! I was like "really" and as you can see BCR never had MAC'S so it's a what if I'll fire the brush up tonite and hit it and post a after pic, thanks for the input

I DID check out your work - that's why my comment above, the work in your PB account looked much better. My apologies for the off-handed remark.

Keep in mind that most of the vents on the real unit have air being sucked in and the fans on the roof / radiator blow the air out. So the screens can get dirty but rarely the area around them as there is no exhaust or anything comming out of them.

Hi,I'm getting ready to waddle on over to my shop and touch up the vents and thank you for your input.

Tanks guys !! in a few months the right hand should be good to go the shaking may not all go away so I'll just deal it :)

L

Tanks you very much !! I think on the Sd40's I'm goign ot do the soot/grime first then do the main body color, this way it will soften it up and I'll make a small mask for the grills to avoid the overspray but then again a wee bit of ovrspray may not be to bad as it will be coverd up.

The more I look at them the better they look, the guy that is gettign them was like WHAT DID YOU DO !!!! and in about 15 mins he was like yeha your riight !!!

L

If you're not big into masking at this stage, one little trick you could try would be to just cut some openings in a business card the same size as the grills and use that as a template to weather your grills.

As was mentioned earlier, most side grills are drawing air IN - the grills may get dirty, but not so much the area surrounding them.

Mark.

That looks much better. I`ve painted a few engines for friends that I wasn`t very happy with at first but once the decals went on they turned out much better.
One thing I do with grills and cast in fans is wash some thinned flat black over them to create the depth.
