Ok, I know some of this is because my eyes are not what they used to be but I would like hints on the application of decals, especially on N Scale cars where the decals can be so tiny. Also, and just as important, I have real problems seeing the detail on white decals that are sitting on white or light blue backing paper such as Micro-Scale (which I otherwise love). I could use hints on the best way to highlight the decal when it is still on the paper and before it is on the darker surface of the model.
Keep watching for a member known as NMANIAC. He does some work with decals. He comes and goes....and seems to have taken a break. He might pop in though.

Yea, those white lettering on light blue background are very hard to see. I usually can see them if the sheet is at just the correct angle to a strong light. A magnifier really helps on the smaller lettering.
To manipulate the decals once they are off the backing paper I use a small paint brush, #6/0 Liner from 'Americanpainter' and lots of Microscale's 'Micro Sol' to keep the decal 'floating' while looking through a magnifier.

If memory serves correctly there was mention in a magazine years ago about using a red marker (I think) on the backside of the decal sheet that aided in seeing white decals on light blue. Never tried it myself so do not know if it actually works.

Good idea, I'll be trying that. Thanks.
