So in preparation for building my larger N scale layout, I picked up an intermountain FP7A, and wow...it is the smoothest runner I've ever seen in N scale.

Very nice, is it a quiet runner also?

I don't really know what to compare it with, it's louder than my HO scale stuff, but it's only a bit of a harsh purr. Nothing objectionable though!
Where this unit really shines is switching, it starts so nicely...although I know my 1/160 crews hate cab units for that.
