HO or N

Chris -

Again, it depends on what you want to do. Building scenery? Doesn't matter. Running trains? N. Detailing locos, cars, structures? HO. Remember, over 80% of model railroaders model in HO. So the manufacturers cater to HO. More kits are available, more parts, etc. N is the second most popular. Just compare the size of Walther's HO catalog to their N catalog.

Now, as to that patio -- outside???

What could I fit in a 90 square foot space?

A lot, actually. A 4x8 sheet equals 32sq ft. I have an 8x12 "L" shaped island layout (two 4x8s in an "L" shape), which is 64sq ft of tabletop space. Not the best use of the space, but if you build the standard benchwork that's 2' wide, you can get more in there, depending on your track plan.

OK guys, I'm going to go with N Scale. Cliffs layout inspired me, great pics and detail by the way. Let me just get the measurements. I also have a question, could you guys help me design it, especially you N Scalers?
