People may be getting tired of discussing this series, but I just watched the latest installment last night and wanted to say that I was fairly pleased with it. It was a good "cradle to grave" overview of a major freight train run. It would have been nice if they went into more detail on how the first transcontinental rr was built, but I understand they can only squeeze in so much in a 1 hr episode.
I thought it was cool to see the old SP units in the yards in their original red & grey paint. Would have been even better if they had an old D&RGW unit or two, though!
Also, did anybody notice the MoPac heritage unit on the point of the train they showed in several of the overhead shots?
I wish the actual show would have taken place on that unit instead of just another UP big yellow dog!
I mentioned in last week's thread (circus train) that I felt the host was getting more tolerable each week. I don't know if this is for sure, or if I'm just getting used to him. Anyway, he's actually starting to grow on me.
After the show was over, they started airing a re-run of the refrigerator train episode, which I hadn't seen yet. It was tough to do so, but I had to make the hard call to turn off the TV and try to get to sleep at a reasonable hour
