Anyone know of a source for Highliners F7A kits? Or what the status of the company is?
I haven't been able to find anything.
Thanks,
Chris
I believe they are now owned by Athearn and run under the Genesis line of F units.
I think you are right... I went out to my LHS (
Tuckers Hobbies) and spoke to the owner, who said that Athearn rescued the guy who started Highliners when his tool and die company went bust. I'm not sure how the business works now, but apparently they are still making kits but are way behind in filling orders (something like 2-6 months).
Nonetheless at home last night I was finally able to find mention of them on the Walthers website under "Highliner" rather than "Highliners." Now I have one on backorder.
Highliners is still its own company. Athearn helped finance the F Unit project in return for exclusive rights to decorated models, the Genesis F-Units. Highliners still sells undecorated kits. They can be found in the Walthers catalogue.
