James, did you use an air brush or literally paint them by hand with a brush? It's a little hard to see the finish in your pictures but they look pretty good. One thing you might do is pick up a can of Dullcote or some Krylon Matte spray to tone down the shiny finish. If you have anything you can use for a tripod, it also helps not to use a flash to take pictures of models because of all the glare created by the flash.

i hand painted all three,i taped them off and painted one color at a time.i tried the flash just made it look all white.i used auto pin strip after painting.the switcher engine i used jap imperial navy green as the color.on the gp 35 and a few others i used heritage green and bnsf orange.i also took a dozen pics and every time i use flash it whited everything up so i use some other lighting i had.and yes i do need a tripod but very limited on space in my train room.

sorry about the quality still learning the cam and the lighting.

No problem, James, you'll get it after enough experience. There's a sticky in one of the forums on how to do good model photography that has a lot of good tips.

i just got one of those rooms in the house no matter how i try it just never comes out.

don't take offence, but as you can imagine it is not your camera and not your room fault.
better lighting is the key. better framing/composition also will not hurt.

here is the sticky . pretty good guide on improving your pics.

EDIT:
although i don't 100% agree on his "no flash!" idea. perhaps good rule of thumb at first but IMO if one knows what he is doing, and knows what effect he wants to achieve, flash can add significantly.

I just did one for someone and i painted the Orange first then masked and sprayed the rest.

i tape off the parts that will be orange, then start with the heritage green,i apply a few coats.let it dry real good ,then tape off the green after it has dried for a few days then paint the orange.

I presume you guys use painters tape to go over the fresh painted areas? Otherwise most types of tape just pulls the tape off correct? Im a BNSF guy also and would like to try painting a few BNSF Locos myself. As well try my hand at doing some CNW schemes.
