Hey there everyone! My name is Dave and I am a MRR addict, but I can quit any time i want. :)

Anyways, I have only recently discovered this board. For some reason, and I can't imagine why, I have been stuck in the secluded world of trains.com and have never once thought that there might be other forums. Now I know and here i am!

I moved to south-central PA about a year ago and have finally got most of the boxes unpacked. This is leaving more and more room in my basement for the long awaited layout i have been planning.

Been MRR-ing since I was 5, but had to take a decade break while I served my country in the US Navy as a Nuk-lar Electrician. Now that I have jumped ship (har har) and am employed by the Army as a civilian, I find myself with enough free time, stability and interest to start up the hobby again.

I am looking to N scale simply because of the amount of shtuff you can jam into a small space with it. I have a bunch of old HO equipment that I am going to use to make a 'round the room' elevated track down in the Kiddo's Wreck (rec) Room.

I am an electronics/electricity junky and find myself overly eager to help people with MRR electricial questions.

Well, now that I have wasted enough electrons with that, I'll be off to start perusing the forums here! Nice to meet ya'll!

Dave- Welcome to the forum.
After looking over your Basic Electricity tutorial, I think we can use you to answer a lot of questions that show up here.
Thanks for sharing.:)

@Trucula:
Thanks! I like PA so far!

@MrTrain:

No major snow here. 3" + about 1" of ice.... quite disappointing actually :) I grew up in southern AZ and so this whole 'snow' thing is still pretty neat. I suppose after a couple of years of super cold winters, I might not find it so neat. :)

@Pink Floyd:
eager to help!

Hi Dave: Welcome to the forum and Pa. I live 5 mi. West of Lancaster. I'm also a Navy vet, FTG3 aboard DD 702, "66-68". Looking forward to your expertise.

Hello Dave and welcome,

I recognize your handle from "across the street", where I mostly lurk but don't post very often. I remember you use to live in White Marsh.

I'm glad you have electrical/electronic talent, I may be doing some serious brain pickin' when I start installing my signals!

Hi, Dave. Welcome over on this side of the street. You'll find it a bit slower paced, but very friendly and civil here...a good bunch of guys.

Hi Dave

Welcome, This a great forum with lots of nice guys, take it easy.

I moderate on both this forum and the one over the street, if you get my meaning.;):D

Ken.

Welcome aboard, Dave. Nice to meet a guy who actually understands electricity - it's more or less a mystery to me. :) Sounds like you guys from PA are starting to outnumber us guys from Alabama. And, yes, you will hate snow and cold after about 3 years. :eek:
