I got in late on this interesting thread, and I can't really help with modeling tips (they've been covered pretty well, anyway!), but here's a couple of pictures of the 2711 in "better" days (Sorry, couldn't resist :D )

I have been thinking about modeling the Willamette & Pacific ex-Santa Fe GP39-2's, so the tips will be a great help.

John

BTW, the pictures were taken in 1985.

Shastafan,
Did you get a picture of the units behind the 2711? Looks like a GP9 behind the 2224.

It's the 1761 (ex-CB&Q 948). Funny, I didn't get a picture of the 2224

I thought the 1761 was a former GN GP9, the 688. 2224 was Q 947.

Wish you had gotten a picture of the 2224 too. Neat old bird.

My mistake :( . It's the former GN 688 (read my database wrong). I have a couple of shots of the 2225, which is really the CB&Q 948.
