Going back to the narrow gauge of my youth - 2/7 Layout started

95% of the track is now laid. I will finish this, but I will never again work with track or a gauge this small. It's painfully frustrating at my age. I also forgot what a pain working in DC was, with all the electrical issues. DCC is just so much easier plug-n-play. I have now confirmed that I know I could never model in N scale after this.😁

When I reach the point of scenic completion (months/year away) I will probably tear it down, sell the engines and rolling stock, and build a standard gauge switching layout in DCC.

Anyways, finished up the branch line to the bridge, deciding on retaining wall options for the transfer, and the final mine placement.

Note to self.....

Fine decomposed granite does not make great ballast. As soon as the 90% IPA hits it, it begins to become rock solid not allowing matte medium to flow through it.

I'm beginning to think I should just finish this as a giant diorama, sell off the engines and rolling stock, wipe my hands of HOn30, and go back to standard gauge HO.😉

Yes, frustration is becoming greater than FUN.

I decided to do something FUN today instead of FRUSTRATING.😁 I started working on the scenery in the mine area.

Rock castings and sculptamold are down.

I need to add braces under the bridge, on the left side, that will lead to the miners cabins (cabins under construction).

I haven't been sick in almost 3 years and thought I may have had Covid asymptomatically. I was wrong.😄 My Covid variant was just a little fever and exhaustion, but not even half as bad as Influenza A that I had about 7 years ago.

I finally felt like finishing up the mine area. I built the miners cabins and added some scenery & detail. I still think I am going to tear everything down and build a standard gauge DCC switching layout. I will probably build a little 2x3 narrow gauge display layout later.
