I am considering buying a Genesis Union Pacific SD70M, what do you guys think of these? I currently have a Genesis UP #844, and it is a VERY nice locomotive. It runs very quiet and smooth; would the SD70M also have these same running properties? I would also like to install a Tsunami EMD 710 decoder in it; how difficult would this be? From what I understand, the newer DCC ready SD70's are just plug and play.

I currently have one of the SD70ACE's on order, but want a diesel to play with until it comes in.

Try to get a recent release, as you need to install all the grabirons, handrails and even the ditch lights on the earlier SD70M releases. The newer ones come ready to run.

I just got a SD70MAC Athearn Genesis that an older model. This loco isn't DCC but DCC ready and I'm working on getting the parts for it now. I really like the details of this loco and I'm working on getting myself more even though I want to get myself some GE Dash 9's or like for my loco collection.

I noticed that Caboose Hobbies has new Flag models in stock, and they state that the hand rails are already installed. Does anybody know if a Tsunami DCC decoder will drop into these newest units without soldering?
