Flying Object Over Layout?????

Is there a micro rc airplane, helicopter, or ufo that would be in scale with a n scale layout. I would like to have a flying object over my layout. The smallest thing I have found is a 6" helicopter and ufo. But these 6" aircrafts seem too large.

I don't think so. There just isn't room for the motor much less the battery and electrinics.

This thing clams to be the smallest in the world and is way to big.

I do remember some guys playing with cell phone vibrator motors and makeing some that were only about 3 times N scale though.

I don't think the electronics are small enough to do N scale, but I know of some copters that are pretty tiny: http://www.raidentech.com/2chmihe.html also: http://www.hobby-estore.com/syma-s010-rc-heli.html

The planes are a bit larger for the most part. These are the smallest I know of: http://www.raidentech.com/mircai.html

A UFO, being that it isn't really something that our minds automatically assign a set size to, might be able to be a bit more out of scale and still work OK. That being said, what about something like this: http://www.trendtimes.com/wosmmircufow.html

I kinda kicked this idea around myself. Unless your object is going to sit on the ground of your layout, size shouldn't matter..(She didn't say that....lol)... I mean if its not on the ground it can't be compared to other objects. Looking at perspective view, from your line of vision, if something is close to you its going to appear bigger. So if the plane/copter close to the layouts edge where you view, it would seem larger. But circling over an airport far away it should be more to scale size. If it's your layout and it pleases YOUR eye, DO IT!!!

They make 1:144 scale model airplanes. I've seen jetliners, C-130's WWII bombers, fighters from all eras, PBY Catalina and Pan Am Clipper's flying boats...

close enough for ya, but they wont be powered... you'd have to hang them from the overhead with some fishing wire or something...

I have a C-130 and 2 seahawks (Navy SH-60 Helicopters) if you are interested...

Organic Models

I once caught a large fly and tied a small thread around its "neck". I then tied the other end of the thread to a hook on the ceiling. It went around in circles for about 36 hours with a pit-stop on the ceiling from time to time.

I have also heard that the military is putting remote controls on cockroaches for intelligence gathering purposes.

Maybe a hybrid of the two ideas would work for your application.
