Here's my old beat-up, completely un-detailed Athearn EMD GP35 that I just dug out of the garage. I plan to buy all new DCC locos and rolling stock soon, but I thought I get out my old stock to take some quick photos just on the kitchen table to contribute here:

what camera did you use? The depth of field is short, maybe others have suggestions

Ha! I am! These are my old Athearn engines and rolling stock that I bought 30 years ago. I dug them out when I just joined this site to be able to post something here. I think a day or two later I decided to build an N-scale layout (I had no previous N-scale equipment).

I shot this with a full-frame DSLR, a Nikon Df, using a 60mm Micro-Nikkor macro lens. The large sensor and close-focus distance produces very shallow depth-of-field.
