Elgin Joliet and Eastern’s SW1200 #301 is one of the few locomotives that received the new yellow paint scheme before the Canadian National acquired the railroad. This switcher is one of the oldest units still in service on the rail road and hopefully will be there for some time to come. One of my favorite things about this unit is that it has the larger fuel tank that extended bellow the air tanks in the center of the locomotive. I had never before attempted to model this unique element and was surprised with how easy it was and how good the final results were.
To model EJ&E #301 I started with an undecorated Athearn SW7 shell and added the following parts.
Correct model headlight
Grab Irons
Lift rings
MU hoses
MU stand
Coupler Lift Bar
Bell
Horn
Dual beacon
All Weather Window
Fuel tank extension
This locomotive was painted in the EJ&E Yellow switcher scheme.Because no manufacture made the red lettering and Red J logos for this locomotive I had to photo shop and print out my own. This unit also features extensive decaling to represent the use of 3M reflective tape used on the prototype.
This model is for sale. PM me for more information.
The Real thing teamed with #460
