I have acquired a few Proto E Units and are looking for metal detail parts for them. Hand Grabs/Rails especially. If anyone has any ideas where I can get them please let me know. I am in desperate need for them.
You can get detail parts from Details West, Details Associates, Bowser, and a number of other companies. Just chec`k the Walthers web site. Some are metal and some are plastic. Handrails and grabs are really the easiest thing to make yourself. You can use anywhere from 28 gauge wire and smaller to make handrails and grabs. All you need is a couple parts to use as templates and your can mass produce them easily with a jig. Your cost is only a few cents per part and you won't cry if you mess one up. Premade detail parts can get to be really expensive and there's nothing worst than getting to installing the last one and you bend it up and break it. With some wire and a jig, you'll be back in business in five minutes.
