Every now & then I like to run some of my older engines that haven't been converted (some probably never willl) to DCC. I would like to disable the analog feature on the DCC locos so i don't have to remove them from the track when I run DC, but the manual is as clear as mud... I also don't want to run them as loco 00 since I hate that awful buzzing coming from the motor.
I understand I have to change the value of CV 29 to do this, but can't figure out what the new value should be. These are all D'trax 123 and 163 decoders. Anyone have an idea how to figure out the new value..??
According to the online Digitrax Decoder Manual (pg.34), if you want to:
- Use a 28/128-step speed table
- Turn OFF analog (DC) capability
- Set your 'normal' direction of travel to 'forward'
- Use 4-digit addressing
...you would set CV29=34
To see this manual, go to http://digitrax.com/pdfdocs.php, look at the drop-down list titled "Starter Sets and Decoder manuals, current production", and choose "Decoder Manual" from the bottom of the list. All the possible settings for CV29 [depending on what features you want to turn on/off] are on Page 34.
Ken....I finally figured out what the new value needed to be.....2 !!! So I changed all active locos and now they all stay quiet when I go to DC....
Thanks for the info.
