My Uncle recently retired from his job as a CN engineer. He was a big influence in my life so I wanted to show my appreciation.

I'm just getting started into model railroading. I have some track plans I'm working on for my 5 and 2 year olds. My 5 year old and I play a lot of Slot cars but we both have a passion for trains. Unfortunately at this time we live in a 2 bedroom condo so space is an issue. We are just starting to run N-Gauge, but hope to build and HO layout with slotcar crossovers.

This is the progressin of the diorama. I started with a shadow box from Micahels and a Hallmark Christmas train ornament set. A friend gave me some foam and I picked up some plaster and bit of craft wood pieces.

I made my own decals for the rolling stock & engine. I used different colors to "wash" the rocks and used some clear sillicone for the water. I purchased the trees off of Ebay and painted the backdrop myself on some dollar store canvas. There is a thin wire sticking out of the smokestack that I glued cotton batten to and pulled to simulate smoke.

Please let me know what you think?

Very nice, looks like you're off to a running start in the hobby!
