In the near future I plan on getting a NP loco to add to my early 70s BN. But it looks like there's almost nothing available in Kato or Atlas NP. So it will probably be a custom paint deal. Kato has U23c's available and the NP had U25c but no U23. I saw a few phots of the prototypes, but do not really see a difference. Is there something I missed? Are the 2 almost identical in appearance?

Are the 2 almost identical in appearance?

These two loco's have very little in common when it comes to external appearances.
Different trucks, Fuel tank shape and truck bolster spacing
U25C has a longer nose, Cab with one-piece windshield, Raised walkway section back by radiators compared to the U23C.

If you want a GE "C-Boat" for NP, look into finding a Atlas U33C or U36C.
NP had some U36C's on their roster.

Thanks Dan. After reading your post, I looked again and noticed the differences. Has Atlas recently made a u33 or u36 that's DCC ready?

Bill,

I have a couple of the Atlas U33/36Cs from one of the first runs and they are DCC ready. Lighting board with NMRA DCC plug.
