I just recently jumped into to the dcc world and bought a digitrax zephyer set(finally after wanting one for years now lol) anyways i have a ho scale kato ac4400 with the decoder w/ sound combo for it, well i installed the decoder in the ac bout 3 years ago and ran the loco at a club which ran very well and sounded great and then packed it away until now after i have gotten the zephyer, well i took the ac out to give it a test run and listen to the sound in it well i programed the loco in and now i have no sound the rest of it works just fine runs well forward, reverse, and lights but no sound at all so im wondering whats going on that im not getting sound at all so just wonderin if any of you guys have some ideas that might help me out before i call up digitrax.

Did you accidentally hit the function for mute? If you already tried that, I would recommend resetting the decoder. You should be able to find the instructions on their website.

Also, if it's been packed away for a while, maybe some wires got loose on the decoder, pull off the shell and check all the wire connections.

Before panicking, push the F8 button. That's the mute button. You may have pushed it the last time you ran it. It will stay muted until you push it again.

hey guys thanks for the input it must of been on mute mode, so i did push f8 but the sound is very very low that you can barely hear it so now im thinking of resetting the decoder and starting over, unless you guys know what cv to reset or adjust the volume to crank up the sound its so low that you need to put your ear close to the loco to hear it. cause im lookin at the cv chart in the manual but not seein any volume cv to adjust so any more help would be great

thanks matt

CV 58 is the master volume control. It should come set to "0", I think it goes up to 64. You can try checking that value, and going up from there.
