I use Digitrax on all of my locomotive. According to there Website, an HO Proto 2000 SD7 takes a DH163D. Depending on what kind of board it has I have seen some SD7 with the SD9 board. In that case you will need to use the DH163P. There website gives images so see what works with what you have. Hope this helps.
 
I have NCE D15SR Decoders in most of my Proto 2000 SD7/9's. The later runs of the engines had the 8 pin plug so that makes the install easier.
