I'm new to the forum...so hello to all. My questions is this, I see all sorts of decoders advertised some say sound. Do all decoders, run the engines they are designed for, and some also have sound? Or do some decoders come with just sound? Would you put a sound decoder and an engine decoder in a engine? Hope this question isn't to confusing.
Thanks
Mike
DCC decoders with sound control the motor as well as the sound in one decoder. There are some sound only units meant to work with DC (analog). Also there are many loco specific decoders, but the majority of decoders work in several different locos.
Did you have a specific loco that you are looking to install DCC into?
Heres what you can get for decoders:
motor only decoders
motor and sound decoders
sound only add-on decoders
Hopefully that answers your question.

OK..that helps. Thanks for the responses.
