I am looking for anyone who might have ideas or can provide me with some info for scenery ideas along the D&RGW Aspen Branch. Photos would be useful as well as any info into the layout of the land mainly on the southern portion of the branch (near Aspen, CO). Looking for ideas for the mountains, ground cover, trees, etc.

Also I am thinking about setting my railroad in the wintertime, so ideas for "snow" would also be useful.

Thanks in advance.

what time period are you modelling? Narrow gauge or standard gauge. The rails are still in place to Aspen. The Colorado Midland also went to Aspen until 1918. The rails follow the river/creek drainage. The Denver public library site has a great digitized photo collection from some of the noted photographers of the time.

You can be specific about the area, or even search for pictures on buildings, mines,or railroad equipment.
Good Luck!

Thank you for the link. I plan on modeling betwen 1955 and 1960, standard gauge. However I am modeling a freelance railroad that connects to the Aspen branch and for the time being I am only going to model the fictious junction where the D&RGW and my rr meet. So being a smaller layout and ealier time period I am gonna use 40-50ft cars, earlier EMD GP and SW units for both rr's.
