XtrkCad more memory intensive than 3dPlanit? That doesn't seem right.
It very well may be some other issue. Maybe it's a graphics driver that doesn't play well with old laptops. I honestly don't know the problem, all I know is that on that particular machine, for whatever reason, it's too unstable to be of any real use.
