I know I can upgrade my procab starter pack to up the amps, but im not exactlly sure what i need. Correct me if I am wrong, but I will need the upgraded transformer (p515) and their Smart Booster. Right? This would give me 3 amps total.
Next question is, I can see needed more then 3 amps down the road anyway so should I skip the transformer and smart booster and go to something else? If I were do go with NCE's power cab setup at 5 or 10 amps would I beable to reuse my procab handheld? I know if I did this the cost jumps a lot.
If you see the need for more amps, then you can buy just the command station and a 5 amp power supply. the throttles you have for the Power cab convert right over and become pro-cabs. You will also need to re-run new jacks for the throttles to plug into.
Otherwise, you can just up your amps to the 3 amp set up that is available with NCE Power cAb. Not sure of the numbers.
Why would this need done? Do you just mean from the wiring into the powerhouse because the cabs would then plug into that vs the small circuit board that the power cab connects to?
Each DB3 powers a section of the layout. You can't piggyback them for each section, you wouldn't need to. It is something like block control only we call them power districts. That way, for example, you could have a 2 or 3 engines in on section powered by one db3 and 2 or 3 engines in another section off of another without overloading the total amperage.
The pro-cab system has different method of plug in. therefore the different jacks that are mounted on the side of the layout piggybacked to each other for walk-around connection.
I thought all NCE used the same plugs. You can use a PowerCab on a PowerPro system, and the opposite, a ProCab on a PowerCab system. At least as far as I knew.

I've been looking over NCE's website and I believe (someone please confirm or deny this) that the plugs for all the cabs are the same. The difference is how the wiring connectes from the track to the booster or (dont know the term) controller. My power cab beginner set just has a small little plug into a little circuit board. The PH10 and PH5 have a different type of connector.
