I finally installed the little plastic pyramids (used to clean baseballs in a tumbler) - previous thread "concrete foundations".

There was so much rust and staining on them I didn't need to do any weathering. I sanded off the top tips and added U-channel metal mounts.

It's where the steam-age water tank used to be.
 
Nice detail! Allot don't add "history" to layouts, I like to see abandoned track, buildings, and foundations (if you have room)just as you did. Great job.
 
Very nice charles, as Bob sez it's a detail that's often overlooked.
I have pics here somewhere of footings I see when on the lines...
