Compatability

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

I am not N scale, but as I understand it, if you are using Kato Unitrack with the attached roadbed, then that's what you will have to use with it. If you are using just regular N scale track, then any other manufacturer's track (Atlas, Peco, Bachmann) will work as long as it doesn't have roadbed attached. There are ways to interconnect Unitrack with other track, but you'll have to wait for folks who use it to explain.

I'm putting together a kato n scale switching yard. Will another brand n scale track work with it?
Or is all kato what I need to use? Frank

Welcome to the group Frank!

Yes, you can connect and mix flex track with Unitrack. Use a piece of straight Unitrack, pull out the Unijoiner on one end and slide regular rail joiners on that end and connect your flex to that. I believe Kato track is code 80 so any MFGs flex track that uses code 80 will join up.
