I might be old school. My question: The Circuitron Tortoise Switch Machine is used on DCC track systems only? Can it be used on a DC track system? I need to replace my old Atlas Snap Relays with a good switching unit on my DC track layout.
Someone please explain.

Although I don't use Tortoises, I have looked into them in the past and will probably use them in the future if/when I upgrade to a larger layout. From what I recall, I believe they can be used on just about any sort of layout, DC or DCC.

According to their instructions, it looks like there are multiple options using DC power and DPDT or SPST switches:

Here's a Powerpoint presentation I found online with an explanation of wiring using DPDT switches:

There also appear to be a variety of videos at YouTube explaining various methods of using Tortoises too.

Thanks for all of your replies. Now explain if they can be used on Bachmann's ez-track turn outs. I also like the use of the Atlas snap relays for the use of panel lights.
