Car Builders' Cyclopedia of American Practice or My Find of the Day!

I was searching for a series of books mentioned in the Micro-Train factory tour video that shows all of the railroad cars in use at any given year to help me when it comes time to scratch build my rolling stock. I ended up finding an 1879 edition of the book and the engravings are just phenomenal. I figured I would share my good fortune to those that are interested in how the cars looked like at that time. The engravings started on page 196 and covers all of the various rolling stock.

I also found Kirkman's Science of Railways: Cars, Their Construction and Handling published in 1919.

Enjoy my latest finds. :D

Great stuff. That second Cyclopedia is scanned from a much better copy, and the guy scanning it was sober at the time he did it. The first one is one of the worst scan jobs I have ever seen. On one page he actually has his hand in the shot!

LOL I've seen a much worse scan job.... half of the images weren't available in an 1871 copy of Travelers' Guide of the Railway and Steamship Navigation Lines.
