Does anyone know when this monogram first appeared on CNR locos?
Also, was it only on Steam locos for passenger service only?
I have seen some photos of Canadian National 4-6-2 Pacifics with the round herald on the tender pulling what seems to be freight, but I can't see the rest of the train; perhaps it might be freight in front of a passenger car?
Generally it was for passenger only but I have seen some demoted passenger engines pulling freight Southern Ontario with that herald.
The herald came into use in 1954 with the new Maple Leaf paint scheme.
