We've seen tons of great loads for flats and gons but I have not seen many box car loads. I remember seeing one where the doors were open and you could see some boxes inside. Looked pretty cool.

Does anyone have pics of their box car loads?

Check out the pic on the main page by quadk, great shot!
My stuff is boxed up right now but will be out soon! :)

Here is the remains of a load in a boxcar I did last year...

If a boxcar actually has a load in it, the doors will not be open.

I'm pretty sure the would be open while they're being loaded and unloaded. :) I've also seen lot of boxcars in trains with the doors open with the remains of the load (cardboard, steel strapping, and assorted junk) clearly visible and sometimes flying out to join the landscape. I imagine either the loading/unloading phase or the load remains phase is what OP was asking about.

I actually do remember one time that a loaded boxcar was running with the doors open on a local freight. It was about half full of Sony TV's. I thought that was kind of weird and radioed dispatch to have the SP police meet me at the next siding, since I knew he was about to take the hole for a fruit block. Sure enough, as soon as the train got stopped, three bad guys in a pickup drove down the tracks and started unloading the TV's. Me and the SP cop caught them redhanded. Turns out they had broken the seal about 20 miles down the line and were looting the boxcar every time the train stopped at a siding or for switching. That would make for an interesting model scene of a boxcar load. :D

I don't intend on running a train with loaded boxcars running with open doors.:D

But it would be cool to have a few in the stages of being loaded/unloaded. Anyone know a quick way to make a few dozen boxes of anything?
