Just joined the forum and I thought I would post some pics of my recent project. Started off with a Proto E8 to build the unit 9920.

Outstanding Job!!!!! I grew up in Aurora Ill. and saw those running back and forth to Chicago everyday as a youngster. That is a good looking model!! :)

Very nice work indeed. Do you have a real first name we can call you? I'll never remember your screen name. :) How did you do the safety striping on the nose? It's remarkably straight and smooth, even where it hits the number boards.

Nice work! Look forward to seeing more.

I have two NW2s that need brass numerals applied to them, but I've never got around to it. Trying to figure out how to apply them without being askew. Also got a factory painted brass diesel that I'm not happy with the placement of the numbers on the cab that need to be redone. Perhaps later you can give me some tips on how to remedy my issue with applying numbers.
Cheers and welcome.

The nose stripping is a decal by Microscale. I used a decal solvent to help set the decal to fit all the little spaces. Placing this decal was a time consuming task but it turned out well.

Thanks.

I will post some more of my custom BN and CGW locomotives when I have a chance. I also made a BN Cab Car and some coaches to go along with BN 9920.

Hi,
I'm new here and I really love Burlington Northern. This is a SHARP looking paint job!!!!!!! Is it possible you could do another one that I could purchase? I'm currently looking to get one of these engines. I saw one on ebay and it does not have all the detail yours has. If you could do another one, that would be great!

Thanks!

PM sent to you.

I don't know why, I've never liked BN's green paint scheme. But that locomotive is outstanding. Excellent work.

Where did you get the detail parts from? Like the brass pipes, the HEP generator, the two extra fans in the middle and the front red marker light?

The detail parts are a mix of Details West and Details Associates. The Brass Pipe are custom cut and built from scrap pipe I had. As far as the HEP and the 2 added fans, that is custom built from scratch. It is a mixture of styrene, metal grilles, and Details West fans. The red marker light is operational, and it is a Details Associate ditch light with a little modification.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

One other note if modeling these locomotives. Take time to look at the pilot. They need some custom work if using a proto 2000 loco. The pilot in my model is modified and specific to 9920.
