Craftsman at heart
I finally finished this kit. It needed some tweaking and the posts fitted a tad sloppy so I had to square each one of them up with the floor. I added a ACI label and removed some details to get it prototypical. I didn't add the X braces because the 1972 CN prototype I used as a reference didn't have any. Also I didn't apply the hinge bridge plates because sometimes portable bridge plates were more favourable and were kept at the loading and unloading locations.
For now it will be an empty car until I can find ten 1974 HO scale automobiles. So far can only find an AMC Gremlin, which isn't all that detailed. I prefer autos made by Rico, Motormax, or Atlas's Masterpiece series.

Great looking car Z!
How about some vans or trucks for loads?
(if you can find them)

Thanks Rico.

I never thought of vans or pickups; great idea.

I'm thinking there might be a 1974 truck or van out there or one that might pass as one. Some vehicles didn't change their exterior appearance for 2 to 3 years. maybe I'll get lucky. I'm hoping there might be some VW vans or bugs out there in HO.

This is what I found for now, but it's a tad pricey considering I need about ten of them. It's made by Brekina.

I think it's Trident that makes soe nice trucks and vans.
There are VW vans, the ones I have are diecast so ten would be very heavy!
Someone may correct me but I believe bilevels had trucks and trilevels had cars.
Of course anything can be loaded as needed....

Great model zoegraf!

if I could make one suggestion...add a railing along the top of the uprights, 010" wire.

Also, there are diecast Impalas too. I used 12 of them on my EL tri rack...very heavy and very pricey!

Depending on clearances en route- bi-level autoracks could be loaded with either trucks, vans or cars. Likewise for tri-levels, I have quite a few photos of mixed loads of small trucks, cars and station wagons on the same tri-level. Out east where the clearances were lower, you'd see more bowl-deck tri-levels and bi-levels loaded with cars.

Thanks. I'll check out Trident.

I found this one, but can't figure out the year of the model.
