Has anyone installed a Tsunami 1000 in a Bachmann 4-8-2 Heavy Mountain DCC ready? I have parts list for loco and tender but no wiring diagram. Need to make room by removing pc board. Any suggestions.
Bachmann 4-8-2 Heavy Mountain DCC ready?
DCC Ready? Doesn't sound like it. Maybe Bachmann has a new definition of 'Ready'.
I don't know anything about the Bachman Mountain, but have you checked the stall current of the locomotive? A Tsunami-1000 may not be rated high enough. I have installed several Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders, and they recommend the TSU-2200 sound decoder if the stall current reading is near or over 1.0 amp. I would contact both Bachmann and Soundtraxx.

Dcc ready has an 8 pin plug. Remove that plug, plug the 8 pin connector on the tsunami into that connection, and solder the two speaker wires onto the speaker. The hardest part is soldering the speaker wires, other than that, it's about a ten minute job.
