HO all the way!
Hey guys, what is the best way to do this? I dont want to have to do it twice so just looking for ideas here. My sharpest curve is going to be 24" radius and the rest will be 26" n 30"...also is there any difference in the cork or woodland scenics as far as installation besides the cork being split sections??

OK good info! I am going to get some of that pink foam board, thats what I had in mind. Now, am I gonna be kickin myself later if I only go with 1" foam instead of 1 1/2"?? My layout is based on a prarie theme and so modestly flat...
Also, for my yard I think I am gonna skip the roadbed all together and just put the track right on the foam...what works best for makin the plastic ties stick to the foam?

OK sounds good....instead of t pins would maybe a few blocks of 2x4's work to hold it down?

Always be care of what you use for glue. Test it on a small piece fo the form to be sure it doesn't dissolve it. On the other hand, glueing foam to foam with elmers glue doesn't work well either. The glue needs air to dry and the foam keeps air from getting past the outside edge of the glue spot. The center can remain liquid, just like in the bottle for months, if not years.

I glued cork roadbed to my foam base using the least expensive latex caulk available at my local Wal-Mart. It worked fine.

Using pins is the best way to secure the cork while the adhesive cures. You don't need T-pins; any pins will do. I used a combination of whatever pins we had in the house, as shown below.
