I just got an Atlas S.S. loco. As of right now I run dc I will down the road go to dcc but for now dc is what I have. I seen that you can get Atlas Gold series locos with sound that works in dc mode as well as dcc mode. My question is,can I put sound in my silver series loco and have it work in dc mode just like the gold series ones do and if so what do I have to do to make it work? Thanks!
Sure you can. Just buy a Soundtraxx Tsunami TSU-1000AT in the GE scheme they are a direct replacement board, or a Quantum Revolution.

Sorry to have to ask but where do I get them and how do I install them? Me and electronics are not the best mix. Thanks
You can look online at various Hobby Stores such as Tony's Train Exchange, or Litchfield Station and they have em. The instructions of installation are included with the decoder and the board replacement style ones are actually very easy to install.
Anthony, the Tsunami TSU-1000AT will only work with DCC. Dekker was asking about a dual mode DC/DCC sound decoder that will work with DC only. To my knowledge, QSI and MRC are the only ones that make these kind of dual mode decoders.
A Tsunami works in Dual Mode. Just you wont beable to control the horn and bell as such like a QSI.
I know the decoder works in dual mode for motor control. Are you saying the Tsunami will produce any sounds running on DC? The product literature doesn't seem to indicate that.
The Tsunami Produces engine sounds and brake squeal and random sounds on DC. No horn or bell though.
