I'm finally finishing this model up as I'm waiting for the caulk to set on the trackbed and track, so I'm detailing this kit a little. I know that the roof of the lumber shed is rolled tar paper (lengthwise). However, above the joists and tar paper are slats that go widthwise (top to bottom). I am not familiar with this type of roof construction, so I didn't know if the slats are wood, metal, or what. I figure if they are wood, then they would need to be painted.
Does anyone know what the roof is supposed to represent? Thanks very much for your help.
Well, I just assumed the tar paper covered that, so I painted it all the same color.
Trey, I think the roof is supposed to represent seamed steel roofing. The upright parts are the seams between the steel sheets. As Gary said, if you've already done it in tarpaper, just finish the job and don't worry about it.
Thanks. I just painted it in grimy black since I wasn't sure. When it comes time for the weathering, I wanted to be sure what it was so I weathered it correctly.
