Atlas Code 80 Flextrack.

Hello,

What do you guys think of using this for my first layout? I don't mind doing the ballasting and roadbed myself so i guess the question would be regarding the quality of this product.

Also if you don't suggest it, what would you suggest? Thanks.

Yikes, Code 83 is HO scale size rail. Use the code 55 line in N scale.

What exactly is the difference in 55 and 80?

.025" difference between code 55 and code 80 rail in the height of the rail. Doesn't sound like much, but if you see them side by side, the difference is huge! A little difference in the ties also, much more prototypical appearance.

If you're just starting to buy the material for a large layout, you may as well buy what will look good. After all, that is one of the objectives of a layout is for it to look good.
