Not the most amazing photos ever, but it's all I've done in the last 6 months!

A while back I posted some shots of my SP GP's with freshly painted plows added to the front, and someone suggested I paint the trucks and tanks to match. Well, I finally got around to it...

The SP Dark Lark Grey isn't a perfect match for the original shell on either locomotive, and it's obviously more noticeable on the GP-35. But in general, it still looks a lot better than the shiny, black color that was there before.

A little weathering will fix the matching issue, no problem. Some dust or light brown on the trucks and problem solved

Am I right in suggesting that all the SP bogies were that grey colour. The reason I ask is that I have a Kato (N) dash 9 and the bogies are black

Yeah, that is probably true. I actually did some light weathering on the GP-35 a long time ago. But since I just run trains on EZ track ovals a couple times a year, I realized that things actually look better un-weathered. Maybe if I have a permanent, landscaped layout later on at some point, it'll make more sense to weather stuff.

When it was first suggested to me that they should be painted, I actually had a hard time finding images on the internet where I could tell the color of the tucks (or "bogies", as I just learned). They were all so dirty it didn't seem to really matter if they were originally black or grey! :D
