Has anybody tried this? A modern atlas silver series I'm talking about. Before I buy a new motor to upgrade the drive an one of my well detailed athearn shells, I was wondering how difficult it would be to modify the shell or the atlas drive to fit each other. Thanks.
It wouldn't be all that difficult. You'd have devise a new way to secure the shell to the frame since Athearn uses friction clips and Atlas uses screws. There would also be some fuel tanks details that would have to be changed but the overall dimensions are identical. If you have a local hobby shop, see if they will let you test fit the Athearn hood to an Atlas frame and see if there are any other issues I'm missing.
