Is it possible to take a athearn rtr dcc ready board and place it into a athearn genesis sd70? I bought a NCE quick plug decoder and found that the sd70 doesnt have a quickplug. So i'm taking an extra athearn rtr quick plug board and i'm trying to place it while removing the old light board. I've noticed that there is a brass clip on the bottom of it connecting to the motor, what should i connect to this on the genesis? I'm a beginner with DCC, would someone be able to help?
Thank you in advance.
Yes it is possible and I have done it for a SD70M that only had a DC board in it. Just take the old one out and solder the motor wires to the motor tabs of the new board. Same goes for the lights, just solder them to the light tabs. I used double sided tape to hold the board to the top of the motor. Its pretty easy to do.
