Athearn CF7

Hi everyone,
Does anyone own an Athearn CF7? If so, do they run well and will they last for a while (hopefully?)
Thanks,
Chris Moore

I don't own one (yet), but one of the guys at my club has one and it seems to be fine. It runs smooth, it's quieter but still sounds like an Athearn. Details seem nice, it even has scale couplers standard. Since it's new, I don't know how long it will last, but if they didn't screw up the new stuff, I have 30 yr old Athearns that still run fine.
I'm looking at maybe 2 of the CF7s sometime soon.

we have two of them on one of the layouts that I operate on. Both have DCC in them and run quite well. We checked to make sure that they were grounded properly first because Athearn latest version of loco's have been coming thru without proper grounding on the frame and they have been cooking the decoders, melting wires, all sorts of not so good things. :(
